CFTC roundtable on futures discussed a plan that would create an insurance fund for futures accounts, and would give futures customers up to $250,000 in protection.

 

FESE criticized ESMA proposals to reform derivatives trading in Europe, and that ESMA was exceeding its mandate drafting the rules. FESE argued that ESMA was mandated by the European Commission to develop draft regulatory technical standards and a definition of fragmented liquidity, but that the standards also proposed “remedies to the potential issues posed by liquidity fragmentation.”
